Environment

Aware of our impact, committed to reducing it.

BAT – Best Available Techniques

Bompieri Group applies the Best Available Techniques (BAT) defined by the European Union to reduce the environmental impact of pig farming. These include management, structural and technological solutions covering all stages of production — from energy and waste management to emission reduction, resource efficiency and landscape protection.

Energy and Waste Management

Solar PV

A 500 kW solar PV system is already in operation, with three additional installations currently under development and due for completion by 2026.

Biogas

Generating renewable energy from biogas produced from livestock manure, turning an environmental challenge into a sustainable resource that supports the Group's energy self-sufficiency.

Digestate

The digestate produced is used as a natural fertiliser, returning organic matter to the soil, closing the nutrient cycle and improving soil fertility.

SBR treatment

Advanced wastewater treatment using Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology, ensuring pollutant reduction and compliance with legal standards.

Emission Reduction

We use advanced, integrated technologies to reduce air emissions, protect air quality and minimise odours.

: filtration systems that remove dust, ammonia and odorous compounds from livestock buildings.
Biofilters natural filtration systems that further reduce gaseous emissions through controlled biological processes.

Feed and Resources

Targeted diets

Balanced feed formulations designed to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus excretion, lowering environmental impact without compromising animal health.

Local supply chains

Most of our cereals are sourced from local supply chains, helping reduce transport-related emissions.

Energy efficiency

Energy use is optimised through intelligent climate-control systems, LED lighting and heat recovery technologies.

Landscape and Biodiversity

Respect for the environment also means protecting the landscape and local biodiversity.

We have planted native trees and hedgerows around our farms, creating green barriers that enhance biodiversity, support CO₂ capture and blend more harmoniously into the landscape.

These measures reduce the visual impact of our facilities and create ecological corridors for wildlife, integrating our farming activities into the local environment.
